Coffee Mornings and Afternoon Teas!!
" it did seem daunting and was easy to make excuses not to leave the house with baby twins!" SWLTC mum
Local mums regularly host coffee mornings and afternoon teas - these can often be an absolute life saver during the first year! Coffee and Tea rota organiser, Irina, has written the piece below to encourage you to be brave and venture out with your babies!
Check the calendar to find out when your next local event is and call ahead to let your host know you are coming. Go on - you can do it!!
Being a first time mum, I only realised when my lovely twins were about 10 weeks old that I had not been out (working from home didn’t help much!) or actually had a chance to meet other mums locally and share the highs of daily feeding/ changing/ burping/ bathing and lows of sleepless nights and fussy eaters!!
I looked at the ever-useful twins magazine’s calendar for upcoming events, but unfortunately there were no tea/ coffees hosted in my area. Therefore, I decided to volunteer and see if other local mums were in the same position and wanted to meet regularly. For my first tea – nobody tuned up - which was a huge disappointment!! I appreciated it was hard to go to someone’s house, as you never know how welcoming it would be or if you would get on with people, and of course a practical side of going out with 2 babies is often an issue. Anyway, after a few phone calls and a few more e-mails to the club members, I had 5 mums with 5 sets of twins coming for tea. The ages varied from 3 months to 7 months, so out came all the toys and play-mats and lots of biscuits and tea for the mums. It was hectic but great fun and everyone enjoyed their time and all the children got on extremely well. After that I had a few mums coming over again and again.
We have a lot of lovely ladies hosting in their areas during the upcoming 3 months. Please check the calendar for the dates/ times and do give them a call if you would like to join in and go along. Tea/ coffees will only work as long as you attend them and they are there for you to meet other mums with children of similar age locally to socialise and have some fun !

New Members Evenings
We hold an informal get together on a quarterly basis to welcome new members to the club. You will get the chance to meet some members of the club's committee as some existing members with young multiples who live in the area. This is a great opportunity to make contact with other parents who may be local to you and are having their babies at a similar time. For more details or to find out when the next evening is being held - members can check our calendar.
SWLTC Parties
Our parties are hugely popular and a great chance for all members of the club - whether their babies have yet to arrive or have already started school - to get together in a fun environment. We have a wonderful summer picnic, an Autumn Party - in 2007 we had a wonderful spooky halloween theme - and a fantastic Christmas party.

We provide first class entertainment for the children and the mums and dads can imerse themselves in twin chat whilst enjoying some well deserved refreshments.
Look out for details of our up and coming events in our calendar
